The State Special Olympics
Track and Field Games were held at Harding University, May
21-23, 2009. Two students from Morrilton Junior High School
participated: Tori Hamm and Paige Bowens. Laci Criswell a
student from Morrilton Elementary School as participated. Tori
participated in the 25 meter walk for 11-15 year old females and
received a gold medal. She also participated in the tennis ball
throw where she received a silver medal. Paige participated in
the 25 meter wheel chair race for 11-15 year olds and got a gold
medal. She also participated in the tennis ball throw and got
a silver medal. Laci participated in the 100 meter and 25 meter
wheel chair races and received silver medals in both races. The
coaches for the Special Olympians were Mills Bryant a sixth
grade student at MIS and Lisa Bryant, Special Education
Supervisor for the SCCSD.

Hopkins of Morrilton Intermediate School
was the first place winner in the 2009 Arch Ford Elementary Science Fair.
Hopkins completed his project in his gifted and talented class, taught by
Mrs. Monica Wilson. |

There’s something growing in
Conway County. Representatives from the local secondary schools
in Conway County, the University of Arkansas Community College
at Morrilton and the local business community announced the
Conway County School Counts! initiative. |
