MHS BULLETIN BOARD

  • MHS Seniors Awards Day will be Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in H. B. White Auditorium.

  • SCHOOL COUNTS!!! Students: Remember that you keep your scholarship to UACCM by demonstrating: Quality  (obtain no transcript grade lower than a “c”); Good Attendance (achieve a 95% attendance record);   Persistence  (on schedule to complete high school in four consecutive years);  Goal-Setting: (Take more than the minimum number of credits required for graduation).

  • Seniors:  You may go to the Arkansas Course Transfer System website at www.acts.adhe.edu to obtain information about the transferability of courses within Arkansas public colleges and universities.  This system guarantees the transfer of applicable credits and equitable treatment in the application of credits for admissions and degree requirements.

  • Seniors:  If you are interest in taking an on-line college class in the spring, you will be allowed a period during the day to work on that class in the distance learning lab.  You will be responsible for locating and registering for the class yourself, but will be given a period and computer access during your school day to do so.

  • SENIORS:  You can now scan the QR code that is posted at various locations around campus to go directly to the MHS Counselor’s Corner to check out financial aid and scholarship information.  REMINDER:  The  MHS Counselor’s Corner is still available at www.sccsd.org when you link to Morrilton High School and then to MHS Counselor’s Corner.

SENIORS: 

  • If you plan to go to college or vocational school after graduation you should apply for a pin number now.  Go to www.pin.ed.gov  to complete the application process.  You must have one in order to complete the FAFSA application for financial aid and is now required for most scholarships. It is also necessary for your parent/guardian to have a pin number.

  • If you have a documented disability of any type you may contact the Arkansas Rehabilitation Services at 1010 North Arkansas in Russellville at 479-890-5751 for information about educational assistance after graduation. 

PARENTS: 

  • Information for students in grades 3-12 check out  www.tasseltime.com (For username and password call MHS counseling 354-9431).

  • Americorps Program – A federally funded community service program that offers experience in the fields of environmental education, volunteer management, construction, or horticulture and landscaping.  Scholarship opportunities up to $4,725.00 are available. Call 501-727-6234 for more information.

  • Students may pick up a 2010-2011 ACT packet in the counselor’s office or apply on line at www.actstudent.org.  The fee for

    taking the ACT is $33.00.  Morrilton High School will give the ACT in December, February, and April.  If you qualify for

    free/reduced lunch you may get two fee waivers while you are in high school from your counselor.  The CODE for

    Morrilton High School is 041-710.

  • The CLEP Exams are now given upon request at the campus of UACCM.  Contact the UACCM Testing Center at 977-2060.

  • Any parent of a Morrilton High School student who is employed by Kimberly Clark in either Conway or Maumelle please contact Mrs. Rainey (354-9431) about participating in the Community Partners Program.

  • SENIORS who are members of an American Indian tribe or at least one-quarter Indian blood descendant may obtain information about educational assistance at www.oiep.bia.edu or from the American Indian Center of Arkansas at 1-800-441-4513.

for taking the ACT is $35.00.  Morrilton High School will give the ACT in September, October, December, February,

counselor.  IMPORTANT NEW REQUIREMENTS:  Have to upload photo for admission ticket (may use free App Store app

with your IPhone.  Download:  ACTPhoto).  Day of testing you are required to bring BOTH an acceptable photo ID and a

paper copy of your admission ticket with photo ID on it.

The Arkansas School Plant Management Association Scholarship – Minimum 3.5 grade point average and a minimum of 21 on the ACT required.  Apply on-line at www.theaaea.org/Page/408 or get application for counselor’s office.

May 15, 2013

Arkansas Society of Professional Engineers Scholarship – Minimum 3.0 grade point average, 25 on the ACT, and intend to earn a degree in engineering.

Balanced Man Scholarship at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.  Go to www.uarksigep.org and follow the scholarship link on the left hand side of the screen.You may also email John Rumbelow at www.jrrumbel@uark.edu if you have questions regarding the application process.  There are also paper copies of the application in the counselor’s office.
