The mission of the library media program is to enhance student achievement by ensuring that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information and by encouraging a lifelong interest in reading.
The Morrilton Intermediate School Library/Media Center has approximately 12,000 volumes for patron use. The students visit the Media Center weekly with their Literacy teacher. They are also able to visit the library at any time during the school day as needed. Teachers utilize the many services the media center offers, such as books on tapes or CD, videos, reference materials, transparencies, computer software, and teacher resources for remediation.
Our media center has 15 computer stations, which are all Internet accessible. These computers are used for OPAC (online public access catalog), Internet research, multimedia projects, and Accelerated Reader testing. We also have a SMART Board for instructional purposes.
LIBRARY RULES
Books may be checked out for two weeks and renewed when necessary. No overdue fines are charged. However, if a student loses or damages any library materials, he/she must pay for that item.
Playaway Audio Books: We have several titles of Playaway audio books students can check out. Students must check out the book along with the Playaway. Playaways can only be checked out for two weeks at a time - they will not be renewed. Before a student can check out a Playaway audio book, he/she must have permission from their parent or guardian because of the replacement cost in case of damage or loss.
