SCCSD's Statement about H1N1 Prevention
Procedures:
The South Conway County School District is
committed to taking every precaution possible to prevent the
spread of the H1N1 virus in our schools. Students are being
encouraged to wash their hands frequently. Students have access
to and are encouraged to use hand sanitizer. It is available in
all school offices and in the cafeterias. Students and staff
are encouraged to use coughing and sneezing etiquette.
Students are taught those procedures to help reduce the spread
of the virus. Local health care providers are visiting schools
and talking to children to help alleviate fears and teach them
how to stay germ-free.
Officials at the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH)
are urging parents and teachers to be alert, and not alarmed.
Teachers are encouraged to send students that are
not feeling well to the school offices where students are
immediately checked for fever and isolated if they are running
fever. Parents are asked to come quickly and remove their child
from school, should we call and report that a child has fever.
Quick removal will help to lessen the spread of the virus.
Parents are encouraged to KEEP children home if they are not
feeling well. CDC protocols for admitting children after a flu
diagnosis will be strictly adhered too. Particularly important
is to keep
the students home until they are without fever
for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medications
(acetaminophen or ibuprofen).
Please understand that we are doing everything
possible to combat this virus while maintaining the high level
of academic excellence you have come to expect from the South
Conway County School District.
Should you have specific concerns you may call
Lisa Bryant, Supervisor of Special Education and Nursing Staff,
at 501-354-9454.
