The South Conway County School District is proud to announce that Micah Autrey, a senior at Morrilton High School, has been named a Semifinalist in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, one of the nation’s most prestigious academic distinctions for high school students in the country.
More than 1.2 million juniors from approximately 20,000 high schools entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The nationwide group of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
Only 16,000 students nationwide have been selected as Semifinalists in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented students now have the opportunity to continue competing for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships valued at nearly $24 million, which will be awarded in the spring of 2027.
To advance to finalist standing, Semifinalists must meet rigorous academic and application requirements, including maintaining an outstanding academic record, receiving the recommendation of a high school official, completing an essay, and submitting qualifying SAT or ACT scores. More than 15,000 Semifinalists are expected to advance to the Finalist level.
