After our first three days of school in the South Conway County School District (SCCSD), I find myself humbled and grateful. What I have seen across our campuses is nothing short of inspiring: teachers welcoming students with care and enthusiasm, staff working tirelessly behind the scenes, and our families partnering with us to give our scholars the absolute best start to the year. These first days have reminded me that when we come together as a district family, living out our purpose to love, serve, and care for people, we create an environment where every scholar can thrive.
In the days leading up to the first bell, I watched our educators deeply engaged in professional learning and preparing their classrooms with care and intentionality. Every lesson plan, bulletin board, and strategy discussion had one focus: how do we best love, serve, and care for our students so they can reach their highest potential? That focus is what makes SCCSD special.
Tireless work happening behind the scenes, in addition to the dedication of our instructional staff, makes success in our classrooms possible each day. In the SCCSD, our team is our strength.
Our bus drivers are often the first and last faces our students see each day. Their kindness and commitment to safety set the tone for our scholars’ mornings and evenings.
Our food service team works faithfully to provide thousands of meals each week, making sure our students are nourished and ready to learn.
Our custodians and maintenance crews take great pride in keeping our campuses clean, safe, and welcoming so that learning can happen in the best possible environment.
Our technology staff works behind the scenes to keep our systems running smoothly, giving teachers the tools they need to teach and students the tools they need to learn.
Our administrative assistants, nurses, SROs, and counselors provide essential support that ensures our schools run smoothly, our students are cared for, and our campuses remain safe and welcoming.
We are blessed with a Board of Education that leads with vision, wisdom, and a heart for our students and staff. Their steady support and commitment provide the foundation for the excellence we are pursuing together, and their influence impacts every classroom, bus ride, and extracurricular opportunity across our district.
I am also thankful for our parents and families who place their trust in us each day, and for the many community partners who step in to support our schools in countless ways. The pride this community has in its schools is real, and it fuels the excitement and momentum we feel as we begin this new year together.
Seeing the energy and excitement across our campuses this week is a reminder of why I believe SCCSD is a true beacon of hope. Our mission—to maximize the safety, learning, and achievement of every scholar, not just words on paper; it is lived out daily by our staff, students, and families.
The first week of school has shown me once again that when every member of our school family plays their part with honesty, courage, compassion, and respect, our students reap the rewards. I am excited to see the growth, achievement, and joy that this year will bring to every SCCSD scholar.
