🎉 Fourth Annual Hall of Distinction Banquet 🎉

South Conway County School District Superintendent Shawn Halbrook has announced that the Fourth Annual Hall of Distinction Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, at Devil Dog Arena.

Today, members of the South Conway County School District Board of Education visited fifth-grade classrooms at Morrilton Intermediate School as part of their ongoing commitment to staying connected to the work happening in our schools each day. Board members John Gibson, Elaine Sullivan, Sue Spivey, and Brian Tonygay spent time observing instruction, interacting with scholars, and seeing firsthand the learning taking place in our classrooms. There is nothing more important than understanding the heart of our district — teaching and learning — and we appreciate our board’s dedication to being present and engaged. We are grateful for leaders who take seriously their responsibility to support our students, teachers, and community. Today, Board of Education members Brian Tonygay, John Gibson, and Elaine Sullivan visited Morrilton Elementary School as part of their responsibilities required by the State of Arkansas. These visits provide our board members the opportunity to see firsthand the outstanding teaching and learning taking place in our classrooms, connect with students and staff, and stay closely engaged in the daily work of serving our scholars. We are grateful for board members who are visible, informed, and committed to maximizing the safety, learning, and achievement of every scholar. #LoveServeCare4People ❤️

This week, members of the South Conway County School District Board of Education had the opportunity to visit our ABC Preschool Program at Morrilton Primary School. Board members Brian Toney, John Gibson, and Elaine Sullivan spent time seeing firsthand the incredible work taking place with our youngest Devil Dogs. From early literacy foundations to social-emotional development, our ABC program is focused on building strong beginnings for every child we serve. They also learned more about the Fueling Brains initiative we have launched at Morrilton Primary. This program strengthens early cognitive development by intentionally building executive function skills, self-regulation, language, and foundational brain growth during the most critical learning years. Investing in brain development early gives our scholars a stronger pathway to long-term academic success. The ABC Preschool Program plays a vital role in preparing students for kindergarten and beyond. Through intentional instruction, nurturing relationships, and a safe, structured environment, our team is laying the groundwork for lifelong learning. We are grateful for board members who take the time to be present, ask thoughtful questions, and stay connected to the daily work happening in our classrooms. Today we were grateful to have members of the South Conway County School District Board of Education on campus at Morrilton Primary School as part of the State of Arkansas’ required school board visitations. Thank you to Board Members Brian Toney, John Gibson, and Elaine Sullivan for taking the time to walk the halls, visit classrooms, and see firsthand the incredible work happening with our youngest scholars. There is something powerful about board members being present in our schools — seeing engaged students, dedicated teachers, and the strong culture that makes Morrilton Primary so special. These visits strengthen the connection between governance and the daily work of teaching and learning. Presidents’ Day – No School Monday, February 16, 2026

The South Conway County School District will observe Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 16, 2026. There will be no school for students in grades Pre-K through 12.

Presidents’ Day is a time to reflect on the leadership, service, and principles that have shaped our nation. We encourage our families to enjoy the day together.

Students will return to school on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Winter Break – No School Friday, February 15

The South Conway County School District will not have school for students in grades Pre-K through 12 on Friday, February 15, for Winter Break.

We hope our students and families enjoy a restful and refreshing long weekend. We look forward to welcoming everyone back, ready to learn and grow.
